Model Basic Assembly 

 

How to assemble the main body (number 4). This tinfoil method reduces drying times.

Lay parchment on baking tray for model assembly.

Roll a small ball for head.
Roll a ball of tinfoil smaller than you need for the body.
Roll out a circle of dough and cover body.
Attach hanger before any detail is added (so model shape is not distorted).
Roll out a sausage shape (thinner than you need as these will be covered in clothes).
Cut in half. Repeat and you’ve made arms and legs.
Make hair with garlic press and attach.
Attach clothes and attach arms and legs with dough paste.

Basic Clothes Assembly
  1. Roll out dough.If  layering body clothes, roll out slightly thinner than normal.
  2. Cut and attach body of clothes; building the layers, as you would get dressed e.g. shirt waistcoat then jacket. Attach dress, apron, bloomers or jackets in accordance with any instructions.
  3. Attach trousers and sleeves. Cut rectangles for arms and legs. Wrap dough around limb but leaving hand/foot from edge. Cut to size and seal edges.
  4. Cut one end of each at an angle to assemble to the body.
  5. To bend limbs easily, use cocktail stick to mark two bend lines at elbow or knee.
  6. Attach your details such as buttons, cuffs, braces, bow ties, collars, waistcoats, dress frills, hats caps, socks and hair bows.
  7. Leave holes for any attachments that will be glued later.
  8. Cover any delicate areas with tin foil before oven drying.
